A review on disinfection technologies for controlling the antibiotic resistance spread

چکیده

The occurrence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) in water bodies poses a sanitary and environmental risk. These ARB other mobile genetic elements can be easily spread from hospital facilities, the point which, for sure, they are more concentrated. For this reason, novel clean efficient technologies being developed allowing to remove these before their uncontrolled spread. In paper, review on recent knowledge about state art main disinfection control antibiotic resistance natural water, wastewater, wastewater (including urine matrices) is reported. involve not only conventional processes, but also advances advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), including electrochemical (EAOPs). This summarizes applicability focuses description mechanisms by each technology, highlighting promising impact EAOPs remediation important health problem. • High risks associated pointed out. Inactivation methods reduce risk described. Disinfection may deeper improved controlling resistance. Current applied effluents. future scale-up applications tackle challenge.

Helicobacter pylori in Iran: A systematic review on the antibiotic resistance

Objective(s):Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a pathogenic bacterium that colonizes the stomachs of approximately 50% of the world’s population. Resistance of H. pylori to antibiotics is considered as the main reason for the failure to eradicate this bacterium. The aim of this study was to determine the rate of resistant H. pylori strains to various antimicrobial agents in different areas of ...

A Modeling Framework for the Evolution and Spread of Antibiotic Resistance: Literature Review and Model Categorization

Antibiotic-resistant infections complicate treatment and increase morbidity and mortality. Mathematical modeling has played an integral role in improving our understanding of antibiotic resistance. In these models, parameter sensitivity is often assessed, while model structure sensitivity is not. To examine the implications of this, we first reviewed the literature on antibiotic-resistance mode...

Modeling the Spread of Antibiotic Resistance

This paper describes a stochastic implementation of Austin et al.’s (1999) model of the spread of antibiotic resistance in a population of fixed size under varying conditions of antibiotic use. The population is divided into sub-groups: individuals colonized by commensal bacteria and an uncolonized group. The colonized group is further divided according to whether the commensal bacteria are sen...
